President Donald Trump said Monday that Canada's Bombardier Inc. (OTC: BDRBF) should no longer be allowed to sell its aircraft in the U.S., accusing Canada of blocking American companies while the jet maker profits from U.S. buyers.

'That Era Is Over'

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said "NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES" adding that more than half of Bombardier's revenue comes from American buyers, companies, airports and service.

He said that the company has effectively used the U.S. market as a "piggybank" while Canada blocks American firms like General Dynamics Corp-backed (NYSE: GD) Gulfstream Aerospace from doing business there.

"That Era is OVER!" he added. "If they want our Market, they must build here."

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on how Trump would enforce the action or how it plans to block deliveries of Bombardier aircraft that already hold Federal Aviation Administration approval.

The dispute comes as Canada's retaliatory tariffs on roughly $20 billion of U.S. goods took effect Tuesday, the latest escalation in the broader U.S.-Canada trade war.

Bombardier Points to Its Deep US Roots

Bombardier said its aircraft support tens of thousands of U.S. jobs across more than 20 states, with a supply chain of roughly 2,800 American companies spanning 47 states and more than $2.5 billion spent annually with suppliers.

The company noted its Global 8000 wings are built in Red Oak, Texas, and flight control components come from its Los Angeles-area facility, with a new service center set to open later this year in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

"Our plan is to continue to invest in our people, our customers and the communities in which we operate across the country," the company said in a statement.

Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) said he contacted the Trump administration to stress Bombardier's importance to Wichita, Kansas, home to more than a thousand Bombardier employees who "contribute their talent and expertise to our nation's defense and aerospace capabilities."

Moran said he would "continue working to see that Bombardier's manufacturing operations not only remain in Kansas but continue to grow and create American jobs."

For the second quarter of 2026, Bombardier's revenues grew 6% year-over-year to $2.15 billion.

Dispute Over Gulfstream Certification

In January, Trump said he would revoke certification for Canadian-made aircraft and threatened a 50% tariff on Bombardier jets until Canada certified U.S.-made Gulfstream jets, and a month later when Canadian authorities certified the General Dynamics-backed jets.

Price Action: Shares closed 3.39% higher on Friday at $228. Canadian markets were closed on Monday for Labor Day.
