Trump Administration's Response Is 'Inadequate'
In a post on the social media platform X, Rezaee said the "U.S. has agreed to some of Iran's seven conditions," but warned that Tehran deemed the U.S. response to the conditions "INADEQUATE." The Security Chief then said that Iranian diplomacy had changed and "there will be no return to the status quo ante."
The White House and the U.S. Department of State did not immediately respond to MarketDash's request for comment.
Earlier, Rezaee had warned that Tehran would target undersea cables and AI data centers in the Middle East if talks with the U.S. remained inconclusive.
Iran-U.S. June MoU Terms
Notably, Iranian officials have, on multiple occasions, reiterated that the U.S. needed to agree to the terms outlined in the 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries in June.
The framework included provisions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions relief, access to frozen Iranian assets and a proposed $300 billion reconstruction and economic-development plan.
Iran's Foreign Minister Points to Environmental Damage
Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi slammed the environmental impact of the ongoing Iran war during a press conference in Tehran, saying that the conditions in the Middle East, including in Gaza and Lebanon, have had detrimental effects on the environment in the region.
Araghchi said that the consequences of the military attacks across Iran, Gaza and Lebanon may last for generations of people in the region. Iran's State-affiliated news outlet Tehran Times, owned by Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency, published a report on Sunday, highlighting Araghchi's comments.
"Environmental protection must move beyond declarations of commitment and enter the realm of accountability, responsibility and effective international action," the report said. Araghchi stressed the importance of international law at the event, the report said.
Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, on the other hand, mocked Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent last week, implying that the U.S. economy was not in the best shape with rising energy costs, ten-year Treasury yields and more, as Bessent touted that Operation Economic Outcast was working.
Riyadh Airport Struck Again
Meanwhile, the King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, was struck again on Sunday, confirmed by the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). The strike resulted in the death of one Pakistani national and injured 11 others.
This strike was the second time that the airport was hit over the weekend, as an earlier strike, claimed by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis, killed several people, including a U.S. citizen, and injured more than 300 people.
