Zelenskyy Questions Russia's Commitment to Energy Truce
In a post on X, Zelenskyy described the ceasefire announcement as positive but said Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure continued despite the proposed pause.
"Ukraine wants peace. The question is whether Russia does," Zelenskyy wrote, urging Russian President Vladimir Putin to honor the announcement.
He added that Ukraine's armed forces had received the necessary orders and that Kyiv was awaiting details of discussions between Washington and Moscow.
Polymarket Traders See Slim Chance of Peace Deal By 2027
Meanwhile, traders on the prediction market Polygon (CRYPTO: POL)-based Polymarket assigned just a 9% probability that Ukraine will sign a peace deal with Russia by Dec. 31, 2026, according to the market snapshot.
The probability has fallen sharply from above 60% late last year, as shown on the chart, reflecting lower market expectations for a deal before the deadline.
Trump announced Sunday that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to halt attacks targeting energy infrastructure, presenting the move as an immediate pause in one aspect of the conflict.
The announcement came after his administration eased restrictions on Russian diesel exports.
