Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) took aim at President Donald Trump on Wednesday, accusing him of being more interested in plastering his name on things than actually helping American families deal with rising costs and healthcare worries.
In a post on X, Warren wrote: "Trump is slapping his face on everything from passports to coins." She argued that the president is obsessed with image and self-promotion, while ignoring what she called serious economic consequences hitting households. "Here are things he won't put his name on: 15 million Americans losing health coverage, gas prices at a 4-year high, tariffs costing families $2,500," Warren said. Her punchline: "Trump wants his face on everything but accountability."
Warren wasn't alone. Other Democrats piled on, blaming Republicans for making life more expensive. Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said the GOP "kicked millions of kids and families off SNAP" and tied rising prices to tariffs and foreign policy decisions, arguing Republicans "do not care about helping working families—not one bit."
Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) criticized GOP spending choices, saying Republicans were prioritizing Trump-related projects—like immigration enforcement and a "golden White House ballroom"—instead of lowering costs. He added that none of Trump's "agenda is going to help your cost of living."
California Gov. Gavin Newsom questioned reports of a $1 billion White House upgrade, raising eyebrows about taxpayer money and cost increases. And Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) blamed high gas prices on Trump's Iran policy, warning: "GAS PRICES ARE $4.39 AND CLIMBING," and saying families are "paying the price every time they fill up."
