On Friday, former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene backed Elon Musk's criticism of U.S. spending on Ukraine, arguing that both parties supported the war despite its economic consequences.

Her statement comes as Ukrainian officials continued to report restrictions on Space Exploration Technologies Corp.'s (NASDAQ: SPCX) Starlink satellite communications.

Greene Says Both Parties Backed Ukraine War Funding

Greene took to X to reiterate her opposition to funding Ukraine's war effort, saying she had warned from the start about its potential consequences.

"I also said from day 1 that it would be bad for specific industries like grain and fertilizer and energy," Greene wrote, criticizing Republicans and Democrats for voting to fund the war.

She also renewed her demand for an audit of the spending, saying, "And I never got the audit I demanded that passed."

Greene was responding to Musk's post arguing that Ukraine's political and business elites had benefited financially from the hundreds of billions of dollars directed toward the country, while ordinary Ukrainians faced conscription and battlefield deaths.

In a follow-up post, Musk alleged that some U.S. taxpayer money eventually returns to the country through intermediaries to finance political campaigns, claiming this helps explain why some politicians prioritize Ukraine over domestic concerns.

Ukraine Says Starlink Restrictions Still Disrupt Military Operations

Musk's comments came amid an ongoing dispute over SpaceX's Starlink and military-focused Starshield satellite communications systems, which Ukraine relies on for military connectivity and drone operations.

Ukrainian officials have said restrictions introduced since Oct. 14 have affected drones traveling faster than 100 mph, disrupting some missions targeting Russian military logistics.

Despite President Donald Trump's statements suggesting the service had been restored, Ukrainian officials said Friday that the restrictions remained in place.

"Every day matters for Ukraine, because every Ukrainian life matters," Ukraine's Deputy Ambassador to the U.S. Denys Sienik wrote on X, adding that officials were still waiting for the restrictions to be lifted.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said the speed limits remained in place.

Dmitri Alperovitch, chairman of the Silverado Policy Accelerator, told CNBC that Ukrainian forces were losing drones and facing limitations in striking Russian logistics.

Lawmakers Push for Reliable Satellite Communications

The dispute has prompted bipartisan lawmakers to urge Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to expand Starshield arrangements and ensure uninterrupted communications support for Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is exploring alternatives. Its Defense Ministry signed a letter of intent with Nokia and Finnish satellite intelligence company ICEYE to explore sovereign satellite communications capabilities, the report noted.
