Palantir Technologies Inc. (PLTR) is drawing fresh investor attention as bullish AI spending expectations, accelerating U.S. commercial demand and continued government work reinforce its position across enterprise and public-sector technology.
The stock gained more than 2% in Thursday premarket trading even as S&P 500 futures fell about 0.4%.
UK Contract Extension Adds Public-Sector Revenue
Palantir expanded the value of its U.K. government work after the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government extended its Homes for Ukraine contract by another year and 5 million Pounds (roughly $6.60 million).
The extension brought total payments to 15 million pounds (roughly $19.80 million), the Financial Times reported on Thursday.
The deal highlighted Palantir's role in supporting a major public program even as the U.K. government developed an in-house alternative and reviewed its broader reliance on the company.
Palantir said it built the refugee-support system in nine days and later helped the government transition to its own platform.
Dan Ives Sees Palantir Among 2027 Tech Leaders
Yorkville Ives & Co. Senior Managing Director Dan Ives included Palantir among his top technology picks for 2027, arguing that investors are underestimating the scale of a coming $4 trillion spending wave.
Ives ranked Palantir third among his five preferred technology names, alongside NVIDIA Corp. (NVDA), Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), Apple Inc. (AAPL) and CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. (CRWD).
He views the expected spending cycle as a multiyear shift in enterprise technology investment that could support established leaders across data analytics, software, semiconductors and cybersecurity.
Analysts Remain Bullish
Palantir carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price forecast of $202.46.
Rosenblatt maintained a Buy rating and $225 forecast on Sept. 23. UBS raised its Buy-rated forecast to $250 on Sept. 15, while DA Davidson also lifted its Buy-rated forecast to $250 on Sept. 11.
Technical Read
Palantir Technologies Inc.'s stock has a strong bullish setup, trading well above its 20-, 50-, 100-, and 200-day moving averages while both the short- and long-term averages point higher. This shows broad trend strength, though the wide gap from the longer-term averages also leaves room for a pullback if momentum cools.
RSI is 78.20, firmly in overbought territory after entering that zone on September 27. Momentum is powerful, but traders should be ready for consolidation or a sharp retracement rather than assume the current pace can continue uninterrupted.
MACD is above its signal line, indicating bullish momentum. That supports the uptrend, but traders should watch for a bearish cross if buying pressure fades, especially with RSI already stretched.
Palantir Technologies's stock has support near 164.50 and resistance around 207.50. Holding above support would keep the bullish trend intact, while a decisive break above resistance could signal a fresh continuation move; failure at resistance could instead trigger a pullback toward lower moving averages.
The golden cross in September, when the 50-day SMA moved above the 200-day SMA, reinforced the longer-term bullish trend. With the 20-day SMA also above the 50-day SMA, Palantir Technologies Inc.'s stock has a favorable moving-average structure that traders will want to protect.
Palantir Technologies Inc.'s stock is up 8.13% over the past 12 months, showing a positive longer-term trend even though the gain is smaller than the recent surge implied by its position near the 52-week high. The stock is currently at 91.7% of that range, so continued upside would require a clean breakout rather than simply recovering from a deeply depressed level.
The recent swing low on July 27 and the 52-week low on June 24 marked the base from which this advance developed, while the October 1 swing high shows that buyers have pushed price close to its upper boundary. Traders should focus on whether momentum can produce a sustained breakout or whether overbought conditions lead to a reset before the next leg higher.
PLTR Price Action: Palantir Technologies shares were up 2.59% at $199.15 during premarket trading on Thursday. The stock is approaching its 52-week high of $207.52, according to market data.
