Slotkin Targets Trump Over Corruption
On Monday, Slotkin wrote on X that "We need to make clear to the public that corruption at the top is taking money directly out of their pockets," adding, "When Trump gains, you lose."
She pointed to rising electricity bills, saying AI companies are building data centers that "guzzle power" while Trump is giving them tax breaks.
In a clip shared with the post, Slotkin said Trump was "on track to be the most successful corrupt leader in the world's history," alleging that he and his family had increased their net worth by more than $3.5 billion.
The Michigan Democrat, who said she was an Iraq specialist and spent significant time in Baghdad, compared the alleged corruption to that associated with former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.
"Saddam Hussein would have spit out his tea at the level of corruption Trump and his family are currently engaged in," she said.
Trump, AI Data Centers And Rising Costs
Slotkin also accused Trump of benefiting from "political corruption," arguing that health care costs were rising because some of the largest health care companies are among his biggest donors.
She said AI data centers were contributing to higher electricity bills because they "guzzle power," while Trump was providing tax breaks to the companies building them.
Trump Faces More Corruption Criticism
Earlier this month, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) accused Trump of putting his financial interests ahead of Americans, saying his family had "made billions" from cryptocurrency ventures and that a trust bank charter gave him a "new way to profit."
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) also criticized Trump over a planned dinner for Official Trump memecoin holders, saying, "Trump's corruption is SICK. He is selling access to the White House."
Last month, Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci warned that the U.S. was nearing an institutional breaking point, saying, "He acts like a fascist" and "we are very close to breaking the system entirely."
