Here's a fun one from the AI industry's ongoing family dinner. Several top AI leaders, including Nvidia Corp (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang, reportedly confronted Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei privately about his public warnings on the potential dangers of AI, according to a report.
On Tuesday, the executives, after agreeing to a set of principles to ensure the safety of AI models, questioned Amodei about the severity of his public statements on the capabilities and risks of AI models, The Wall Street Journal reported. The discussion took place following President Donald Trump's luncheon with approximately two dozen tech CEOs in the East Room.
The Anthropic CEO urged executives to be transparent and honest about AI model capabilities and avoid downplaying potential risks, the report added.
When Amodei raised safety concerns during lunch and emphasized the importance of transparency with the public about AI model capabilities and risks, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta Platforms Inc. (META), suggested that the best way to address these concerns was by upholding the agreed principles as an industry, the report noted.
Amodei, who had recently dined with Trump for their first face-to-face meeting, expressed optimism about the industry's ability to ensure safety if it collaborates with the administration.
Anthropic, Nvidia, and Meta did not immediately respond to MarketDash's request for comments.
