Micron Technology Inc. (MU) remains a key beneficiary of AI-driven memory demand as investors weigh strong earnings momentum against questions about pricing power, future supply, and the durability of the current cycle.

Micron beat earnings and raised revenue and EPS guidance, keeping the AI-driven memory demand story intact even as analysts and CNBC's "Fast Money" traders debated whether the stock's extraordinary run leaves room for another major leg higher.

The stock gained almost 300% year-to-date, driven by an AI-driven boom in High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) chips required to power NVIDIA Corp. (NVDA) and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) accelerators. The company hit a $1 trillion market capitalization for the first time on May 26, 2026.

Wedbush Sees AI Demand Keeping Memory Tight

Wedbush analyst Matt Bryson focused on Micron's earnings guidance of more than $38 per share, which he said sits near the middle of the $36-to-$40 range he had heard from buy-side investors.

Bryson told CNBC on Thursday that his memory pricing checks continue to show increases, although at a slower pace. He said the reason behind Micron's margin trajectory matters, particularly if greater high-bandwidth memory shipments supporting AI influence profitability.

He expects additional memory supply to arrive in late 2027 and 2028, noting that increasing supply historically ends memory cycles.

However, Bryson questioned whether supply can catch demand as AI accelerator and CPU deployments expand rapidly while memory capacity grows more slowly.

"So as long as you have this strength in AI, um, even if you get more supply coming on, it's really unclear to me that supply catches demand," Bryson said.

He also expects Micron to favor share buybacks after restrictions tied to its CHIPS Act funding expire on Dec. 9, given the cash the company has accumulated.

Fast Money Traders Focus on Margins and Expectations

CNBC's Fast Money trader Tim Seymour called the quarter good but said investors should focus more heavily on Micron's margin profile than its previous data-center growth rates.

He pointed to pricing and longer-term contracts as important factors but warned that the memory story could face turbulence as additional competitors expand supply.

"I'm not chasing Micron here, but there was nothing wrong with this print," Seymour said.

Steve Grasso, another trader, turned more constructive on Micron because expanding AI-agent use should increase inference workloads and memory demand.

"I think it could actually go higher, because agents create token demand. Tokens are inference, and inference runs on memory," Grasso said.

Nathan Questions Size of Future Earnings Beats

Trader Dan Nathan took a more cautious view, arguing that Micron's biggest earnings surprises may already be behind it.

He noted that the latest quarter beat consensus earnings and sales estimates by roughly 5%-6%, while current-quarter guidance was about 8% above expectations. That contrasts with the much larger surprises that helped drive Micron's earlier rally.

Nathan said investors could increasingly price in best-case outcomes, which may explain the stock's muted after-hours reaction.

Trader Guy Adami also highlighted Micron's roughly 86% margins and supportive AI spending trends but cautioned that competition will eventually increase.

He pointed to the limited stock reaction despite options markets pricing in a roughly 7%-8% earnings move, suggesting investors may already have incorporated substantial optimism into the shares.
