Critical Metals Corp. (CRML) stock jumped about 27% in Monday's premarket trading after President Donald Trump announced a U.S.-Denmark agreement that would give the United States permanent control over Greenland's security, putting the Arctic island's strategic mineral resources back in focus.
The broader market was also higher. Nasdaq futures gained 0.99%, while S&P 500 futures rose 0.69%.
Greenland Deal Puts Tanbreez Rare Earth Project In Focus
Critical Metals is developing the Tanbreez rare earth project in Greenland. That exposure put the stock in focus after the security agreement was announced.
Other Greenland-linked names also rallied. Greenland Energy Company (GLND) and Greenland Mines Ltd. (GRML) climbed as investors assessed whether deeper U.S. involvement could support mining, infrastructure and investment on the island.
The moves also reflect growing interest in minerals that are considered strategically important for national security. Rare earths are used in products ranging from electric motors and wind turbines to advanced electronics and military systems.
Technical Analysis
Critical Metals is trading 20.1% above its 20-day simple moving average of $7.08. It is also 26.4% above its 50-day SMA of $6.72.
However, the stock remains 2.9% below its 100-day SMA of $8.76. It is also 12% below its 200-day SMA of $9.66. That suggests the longer-term trend has yet to fully recover.
The relative strength index stands at 47.14, which is neutral.
The moving-average structure also remains mixed. The 20-day SMA is above the 50-day average, supporting the short-term trend. However, the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day average following a death cross in July.
Resistance sits near $8.50. A sustained move above longer-term averages could strengthen the technical setup and signal stronger follow-through from buyers.
