Nvidia Corporation (NVDA) has been one of the best-performing stocks over the past 5, 10, 15, and 20 years. But as the company prepares to release its second-quarter earnings on Wednesday, lawmakers who regularly trade stocks seem to be taking a cautious stance.

Congressional Trading Activity in Nvidia
According to the MarketDash Government Trades page, which tracks Nvidia stock transactions by members of Congress, there have been 17 buy orders and 23 sell orders so far in 2026. That's a notable imbalance, suggesting that lawmakers are more inclined to lock in profits and may be anticipating slower growth ahead.
Most of these trades fall in the $1,000 to $15,000 range, but the larger transactions tell a more interesting story. The biggest buy orders include one in the $50,000 to $100,000 range and another in the $250,000 to $500,000 range. On the sell side, there were three transactions between $15,000 and $50,000, one between $50,000 and $100,000, and two between $100,000 and $250,000.
So not only are there more sales than buys, but the sales also skew toward larger amounts. That suggests a stronger conviction in selling.
Looking at the most recent trades from May, June, and July, the trend becomes even clearer: nine sales versus five purchases. The sales ranged from $235,000 to $675,000, while the buys were much smaller, ranging from $5,000 to $75,000. Recent activity shows a clear preference for selling over buying.
What to Expect from Nvidia's Earnings
Nvidia has a strong track record of beating analyst estimates, but that hasn't always translated into a higher stock price. The company has beaten earnings-per-share estimates in 18 of the last 20 quarters and revenue estimates in 19 of the last 20 quarters. Its current streaks stand at 14 consecutive quarters of EPS beats and 15 consecutive quarters of revenue beats.
Yet, the stock has fallen after five of the last six earnings reports. That's a pattern worth noting.
Analysts expect Nvidia to report second-quarter revenue of $92.01 billion, up from $46.74 billion in the same period last year. Earnings per share are expected to come in at $2.09, up from $1.04 a year ago.
So, while the numbers look strong on paper, the market's reaction may be a different story. Congress's selling activity could be a signal that even those with insider knowledge are hedging their bets.
