Datavault AI Inc. (NASDAQ: DVLT) shares got a nice little pop in Wednesday's premarket, climbing more than 4% as the stock tries to bounce off a key technical level. The broader market was a bit softer, with Nasdaq futures down 0.37% and S&P 500 futures slipping 0.14%, but Datavault was moving against the tide.

Nasdaq Gives Datavault AI More Time to Regain Compliance
Here's the big news: on Tuesday, Datavault AI said Nasdaq granted it another 180 days to meet the exchange's $1 minimum bid price requirement. That gives the company until February 22, 2027, to get its act together. If needed, Datavault AI could do a reverse stock split to boost the share price. During this compliance period, the shares will keep trading on the Nasdaq Capital Market under the DVLT ticker.
Datavault AI Technical Analysis
But let's be real: the technical picture isn't pretty. The broader trend is still bearish. Datavault AI is trading 8.2% below its 50-day simple moving average (SMA), 31.2% below its 100-day SMA, and a whopping 57.1% below its 200-day SMA. That's a lot of overhead resistance.
Adding to the gloom, the 20-day SMA is below the 50-day SMA, and the 50-day SMA is below the 200-day SMA, thanks to a "death cross" back in February. These signals suggest that sellers could step in during any rallies, making it tough for the stock to sustain upward moves.
The relative strength index (RSI) is sitting at 45.91, which indicates neutral momentum. It's not overbought or oversold, so the stock appears to be consolidating rather than starting a clear reversal. Datavault AI hit its latest swing high in July and its recent low in August. Traders will be watching to see if it can form a higher low above that August level.
Over the past 12 months, the stock has fallen 25.31%. It's also trading much closer to its 52-week low of 25 cents than its high of $4.10. That tells you how far it's fallen. Resistance is near 35 cents, which is close to the 50-day SMA, while support sits at 32 cents around the 20-day SMA.
Analyst Outlook
Despite the technical weakness, analysts are still pretty upbeat. The stock trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 10.4, and it carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price forecast of $2.50. That's a big upside from current levels, but it's worth taking with a grain of salt.
Litchfield Hills initiated coverage on August 5 with a Buy rating and a $2 price forecast. Maxim Group maintained its Buy rating but lowered its forecast to $3 on March 30, after having raised it to $4 on January 5. So even the bulls are trimming their expectations.
Datavault AI Price Action
In Wednesday's premarket session, Datavault AI shares rose 4.68% to 32 cents, according to market data. It's a small bounce, but for a stock that's been beaten down, every little bit helps.
