President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the U.S. will keep up its strikes in Iran into next week, warning that it will hit the country “very hard” as tensions over the Strait of Hormuz continue to simmer.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said the U.S. is “hitting every single thing that they [Iran] have along the shore.” He stressed the need to keep the Strait open and claimed it would take Iran 20 years to rebuild from the damage.
When asked if the strikes will continue, Trump said they would “until I say that’s enough.” He ruled out a ground campaign but noted the U.S. has “people that will do the ground campaign” on its behalf.
“I’ll save the energy targets for last,” Trump said, adding that the U.S. will “ultimately” hit Iranian energy infrastructure. He also said the U.S. intends to hit bridges and power plants next week “unless they [Iran] get to the table and negotiate,” insisting Iran has “no choice” but to make a deal.
