President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated image of a large bomb mounted beneath a military aircraft on Sunday, as Republican senators raised concerns that an emerging Iran peace framework could give away too much after months of conflict.

Trump Posts Bomb Image Amid Iran Talks
Trump, who frequently uses AI-style images on Truth Social, shared the picture with the words "THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!" painted on the side of the bomb. The post landed as several Republicans publicly warned against a reported 60-day ceasefire and broader agreement with Tehran.
U.S. equity markets are closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday on Monday. Both the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq observe this closure and regular trading will not resume until Tuesday.

Natural gas futures dropped 0.54% to $2.891 per MMBtu. Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar index stood at 98.97, down 0.27% at the time of writing.

Republican Senators Warn Against Ceasefire
Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, wrote on X that "the rumored 60-day ceasefire" would be a "disaster" if it were assumed Iran would negotiate in good faith. He said everything achieved by the joint U.S.-Israeli military campaign, "Operation Epic Fury," would be "for naught" if the deal moved forward as reported.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) also took to X on Sunday to say he was "deeply concerned" about reports of a possible deal. Cruz called Trump's decision to strike Iran "the most consequential decision of his second term," but warned that sanctions relief, continued Iranian enrichment and effective Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz would amount to a "disastrous mistake."
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) also criticized the potential agreement and warned that it could shift the Middle East's balance of power toward Iran. Graham argued that Iran would appear dominant if it retained the ability to disrupt the Strait of Hormuz, thereby making a diplomatic solution necessary.
Iran Disputes Reported Nuclear Framework
The Associated Press reported on Sunday that the United States was close to a deal with Iran that could end the war, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and require Iran to give up its highly enriched uranium stockpile. Trump said he had told representatives "not to rush into a deal," while describing negotiations as "orderly and constructive."
Iran has disputed parts of the reported framework. Reuters reported that a senior Iranian source said Tehran had not agreed to hand over its highly enriched uranium stockpile, and that nuclear materials were not part of the preliminary agreement.
