The Contract Details

The eight-figure agreement covers the sale of a Gen-3, very high-resolution 35-centimeter satellite, along with multi-year on-orbit operations and subscription-based Assured imagery and analytics services. Think of it as a complete package rather than just selling hardware.

CEO Brian O'Toole emphasized that the contract will provide the customer with near-term access to advanced imaging and AI-enabled analytics within months. The Gen-3 satellite will integrate with BlackSky's existing constellation to deliver mission-relevant insights quickly.

Speed as a Competitive Edge

What's making this possible is BlackSky's vertically integrated model, which combines satellite manufacturing, software, and AI capabilities under one roof. This setup enables rapid deployment of space-based intelligence solutions at a time when global demand for on-demand data access is accelerating.

The timing is notable too. Last week, BlackSky signed a separate seven-figure Assured contract with an international defense customer, building clear momentum for its Gen-3 offerings.
