DoorDash Inc. (DASH) announced Thursday that it's teaming up with Hibbett Inc. to bring on-demand delivery of athletic gear to customers across the country. The partnership adds roughly 1,000 Hibbett locations to DoorDash's platform, letting shoppers order sneakers, workout clothes, and sports accessories without leaving the couch.
The deal makes Hibbett's inventory significantly more accessible through DoorDash, especially for customers in the Southeast and Southwest where the sporting goods retailer has a strong presence. Think of it as Amazon Prime speed for your local athletic store.
Through the DoorDash app, customers can now browse and order Hibbett's athletic essentials—footwear, apparel, and accessories from heavyweight brands like Nike, Jordan, Adidas, and New Balance—and have them delivered straight to their door. No more scrambling to the store before game time or hoping your size is still in stock when you finally make it there.
Hibbett is also being integrated into DashPass, DoorDash's subscription program that eliminates delivery fees and reduces service charges on eligible orders from thousands of restaurants, grocery stores, and retail locations nationwide. For subscribers, that means one more reason to justify that monthly membership.
What the Executives Are Saying
Fuad Hannon, VP of New Verticals at DoorDash, framed the partnership as part of the company's broader retail strategy: "This partnership reflects our continued focus on building meaningful retail relationships that give consumers greater choice and speed, whether they are gearing up for a game, refreshing everyday essentials, or shopping for last minute accessories and beyond."
Bill Quinn, CIO at Hibbett, emphasized the convenience angle: "By connecting with DoorDash's delivery network, we're simplifying the path from checkout to doorstep, so shoppers can get their footwear and apparel shopping done quickly and seamlessly. This new partnership is yet another way for us to provide efficiency and continue to improve our customer experience."
Beyond Athletic Gear
This isn't DoorDash's first rodeo in expanding beyond restaurant delivery. Back in December, the company announced a collaboration with OpenAI to integrate grocery shopping directly into ChatGPT. The feature lets users transform recipes into actual grocery orders delivered from local stores in as little as an hour—turning meal planning from abstract concept to ingredients at your door.
DoorDash is scheduled to report its fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 financial results on February 18, 2026.
Stock Movement: DoorDash (DASH) shares traded up 0.33% at $207.16 during premarket trading on Thursday.
