The White House's plan for a Gaza "board of peace" is hitting some diplomatic turbulence. Some picks were made without coordination and don't align with Israeli policy.

Netanyahu Takes It Up the Chain
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu isn't just grumbling quietly. He's instructed Israel's foreign minister to contact Secretary of State Marco Rubio about the appointments, according to The Guardian. The White House has sent invitations to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Argentine President Javier Milei. Israel hasn't specified which appointments are causing heartburn.
How This Board Actually Works
The structure splits responsibilities across two levels. The "founding executive board" handles investment and foreign relations, while the "Gaza executive board" manages the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, dealing with daily operations. Trump chairs the seven-member founding board, joined by Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Blair.
The Ceasefire Remains Fragile
Since the October ceasefire, at least 463 Palestinians have died in Gaza, according to local authorities. Hamas hasn't committed to disarmament, which former national security adviser John Bolton warned could torpedo the entire arrangement. Meanwhile, Israel has been angling for a 20-year security deal with the United States that includes "America First" provisions, hoping to curry favor with the Trump administration.
