What the Insider Bought
According to a recent SEC Form 4 filing, board member Teyin Liu picked up 23,200 shares of Micron stock across two trading days in mid-January.
The buying spree started on January 13, 2026, when Liu purchased 11,600 shares at an average price of $337.07. The following day, he came back for more, making two additional purchases: 3,780 shares at $336.63 and 7,820 shares at $337.50.
These transactions bring Liu's direct ownership to 25,910 shares of Micron.
Insider buying like this is generally viewed as a vote of confidence from company leadership. When board members are willing to invest their own capital, it tends to draw positive attention from the broader investor community.
The Technical Picture Looks Solid
Beyond the insider activity, Micron's chart is painting a pretty bullish picture. The stock is currently trading significantly above its key moving averages, with the 20-day simple moving average sitting at $303.67. That puts Micron's current price about 17.3% above that level—a solid indication of upward momentum.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 66.22, which is neutral territory but creeping toward overbought conditions. While momentum remains strong, traders should keep in mind that a move above 70 could signal a potential pullback.
On the MACD front, the indicator is above its signal line, pointing to bullish momentum and suggesting the upward trend has room to run. This positive momentum could continue attracting buyers and reinforcing the current price action.
Right now, there aren't clearly defined support or resistance levels, so traders should watch for price action that could establish these benchmarks. If Micron breaks through recent highs, it could signal a continuation of the bullish trend. A drop, on the other hand, would warrant some caution.
It's worth noting that Micron experienced a golden cross back in June, when the 50-day moving average crossed above the 200-day moving average. That's typically considered a significant bullish signal, and the stock's current position above these averages supports that optimistic view.
Looking at the bigger picture, Micron has surged an impressive 247.47% over the past 12 months. That kind of gain reflects powerful long-term momentum and suggests traders have good reason to remain optimistic about future price movement.
Price Action: Micron shares were up 6% at $356.95 at the time of publication on Friday, trading at a new 52-week high.
