Leading the decline was Bright Minds Biosciences Inc. (DRUG), which saw shares tumble after unveiling plans for a $100 million public offering. The stock slipped 2.3% to $91.03 in pre-market action. Public offerings often weigh on share prices as existing shareholders brace for dilution from newly issued stock.
Other Notable Decliners
Cohen & Company Inc. (COHN) experienced the sharpest drop, plunging 15.1% to $27.50 in pre-market trading. The decline reversed Tuesday's 12% gain, highlighting the volatility in the stock.
Gloo Holdings Inc. (GLOO) fell 8.1% to $5.02, while Datavault AI Inc. (DVLT) declined 4.3% to $1.34 in early trading.
AST SpaceMobile Inc. (ASTS) dropped 4.3% to $93.31, also giving back some of Tuesday's momentum after gaining 7% in the previous session. BitFuFu Inc. (FUFU) matched that decline with a 4.3% slide to $2.91.
Among established names, First Solar Inc. (FSLR) slipped 4.2% to $257.51, while Deckers Outdoor Corp. (DECK) fell 4% to $103.16 in pre-market activity.
Precious metals miners also showed weakness. Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI) declined 3.8% to $45.40, and Americas Gold and Silver Corporation (USAS) slipped 3.6% to $5.12.
Rounding out the list of decliners, Praxis Precision Medicines Inc. (PRAX) fell approximately 2% to $268.00 after announcing its own proposed public offering, echoing the market's reaction to Bright Minds' fundraising plans.
The pattern is familiar on Wall Street: when companies announce they're raising cash through public offerings, investors often hit the sell button as they anticipate ownership dilution and wonder what the urgency might signal about the company's capital needs.
