The "RAISE And Shine" mission lifted off from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand on December 14, 2025, at 03:09 UTC (16:09 NZDT). The Electron rocket successfully delivered JAXA's RApid Innovative payload demonstration Satellite-4 (RAISE-4) into its intended orbit, carrying eight technology demonstrations developed by a mix of private companies, universities, and research institutions across Japan.

This represents the first of two dedicated Electron missions supporting JAXA's Innovative Satellite Technology Demonstration Program, an initiative designed to test and advance emerging capabilities from Japan's growing space sector. The program gives Japanese innovators a dedicated pathway to space, where they can validate new technologies in the real orbital environment.

What's Next

Rocket Lab expects to fly its second Electron mission for JAXA during the first quarter of 2026. Beyond that, the company is also preparing a dedicated launch for the European Space Agency in the coming year, demonstrating that its launch services are increasingly in demand from institutional customers who need reliable, responsive access to orbit.
