Worthington Enterprises, Inc. (WOR) is about to show its cards. The Columbus, Ohio-based company releases second-quarter earnings results after the closing bell on Tuesday, Dec. 16, and Wall Street is watching to see if it can maintain its momentum.
The consensus forecast calls for quarterly earnings of 70 cents per share, which would represent a nice bump from the 60 cents per share Worthington posted in the same quarter last year. Revenue expectations are similarly optimistic, with analysts projecting $310.60 million compared to $274.05 million in the year-ago period.
The company has recent history on its side. Back on Sept. 23, Worthington delivered better-than-expected results for its first quarter, which probably explains some of the confidence heading into this report.
Shares of Worthington closed at $58.00 on Thursday, gaining 1.5% for the session.

Canaccord Genuity analyst Brian McNamara, who maintains an accuracy rate of 56%, kept his Buy rating on the stock but trimmed his price target from $81 down to $73 on Sept. 25. That suggests he still sees upside potential, just not quite as much as before.
Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs analyst Susan Maklari, with a 53% accuracy rate, takes the opposite view. She maintained a Sell rating on June 26 but did raise her price target from $44 to $50, indicating she sees the stock as overvalued at current levels despite some improved prospects.
The conflicting signals from experienced analysts reflect the uncertainty around Worthington's outlook. With earnings just days away, investors won't have to wait long to see which perspective proves more prescient.
