Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. (CTSH) is taking over IT operations for BayWa, the Germany-based agriculture and energy conglomerate, in a five-year partnership designed to modernize how the company runs its digital infrastructure.
The arrangement hands Cognizant responsibility for managing BayWa's core IT services, including infrastructure, application management, service desk support, and workplace technology. As part of the transition, Cognizant will also bring on a group of BayWa employees who currently handle these functions, creating what both companies describe as a scalable, modernization-focused technology environment.
BayWa's decision to consolidate these operations under one provider is aimed at improving efficiency and coordination across its various systems. The partnership will involve ongoing infrastructure and application updates, plus greater deployment of AI and automation tools to streamline day-to-day operations. BayWa said it plans to use structured change management to keep employees engaged throughout the transition.
"BayWa chose Cognizant because the service provider responds very flexibly to the needs of the diversified group and offers digital innovation and sustainable IT solutions," said Thomas Dibbern, CIO at BayWa.
Andreas Golze, Managing Director for Cognizant's DACH Region, added: "We look forward to contributing our expertise in digitalization and sustainable innovation to BayWa's digital transformation."
