China Wait Times Balloon for Model Y Long
Here's a problem most automakers would love to have: Tesla Inc. (TSLA) customers ordering the China-specific six-seater Model Y L are now looking at delivery windows that stretch all the way to February 2026, according to the company's official Chinese website on Friday. That's nearly a year-long wait for a vehicle configuration that's clearly resonating with Chinese buyers.
For context, the standard Model 3 shows a far more reasonable delivery window of 4-6 weeks in China. If you're impatient, Tesla is offering in-stock options for both models that can get you behind the wheel faster—assuming you're flexible on configuration.
Europe Gets a Budget-Friendly Model 3
While Chinese customers wait, European buyers got some fresh options. Tesla rolled out the Model 3 Standard trim across Germany, Norway, and Sweden, with pricing starting at €37,970 (roughly $44,200). The rear-wheel drive variant offers a claimed WLTP range of 331 miles on a single charge—solid performance for the price point. Want Full Self-Driving capabilities? That'll cost you an extra €7,500 (approximately $8,700).
FSD's European Push Accelerates
Speaking of FSD, Tesla is making a concerted push to bring the technology to Europe. The company is currently offering free FSD test rides in multiple cities across Germany, France, and Italy, aiming for a February 2026 deployment timeline across the region.
The Dutch auto regulator RDW (Netherlands Vehicle Authority) confirmed it's working with Tesla to secure regulatory approval for FSD deployment, though officials declined to share additional details about the approval process.
Price Action: TSLA shares edged up 0.04% to $454.64 during pre-market trading, according to market data.
