Secretary of State Marco Rubio took to X to clear up confusion about the peace proposal currently making waves in diplomatic circles. The framework, he explained, was written by the United States and incorporates feedback from Russia along with earlier input from Ukraine.
The proposal landed in front of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday during meetings in Kyiv. It's meant as a starting point for negotiations rather than a take-it-or-leave-it deal, according to Rubio's account.
By Saturday, President Donald Trump stepped in to clarify that the offer drawing heat from critics in Europe and stateside isn't set in stone.
