SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci urged Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday to seek President Donald Trump's removal, following Republican losses in the midterm elections.

Scaramucci Mocks Trump Over Midterm Map

Scaramucci made the call in a post on X. "Vance and Rubio should move quickly," he wrote, urging them to "work with the cabinet or the Senate and seek Trump's removal," and to start rebuilding the party before it gets worse. He did not name a mechanism.

In a separate post, the former White House communications director wrote that only Trump could turn Texas, Kansas and Mississippi blue, meaning Democratic. Those states have long backed Republicans in presidential races.

Rubio Rejects Exit Reports, Defends Iran War

The appeal comes as Rubio rejects reports that he could leave the administration. In a Thursday interview with The New York Times, he said staying through Trump's term has "always been my plan," and he declined to discuss a 2028 run.

Rubio also defended Trump's Iran war decision, saying leaders must sometimes make unpopular choices for the country's long-term interests. He acknowledged rising gasoline prices could create political difficulties.

Vance Blames War, Not Turnout, for Midterm Defeat

Earlier this week, in a post on X, Vance said Republican turnout held up, but many 2024 Trump voters backed Democrats. He wrote that Florida's electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democratic, a couple of points weaker for the GOP than in 2024.

Vance cited a pollster who projected a 13-point loss on the generic ballot, a measure of national party preference. Defecting voters wanted an end to the war, lower costs, "America First" policy, and a changed relationship with Israel.

"The reason we lost is the war," Vance wrote. He said losing the Senate for six years was the cost.

Miller Pick Draws Sharp Criticism

On Saturday, Scaramucci also targeted Trump's choice of Stephen Miller as White House chief of staff, the president's top aide. Trump announced the move, replacing Susie Wiles after Republican midterm losses.

Scaramucci tied the decision directly to the election. He wrote that Trump "saw the midterm results" and chose to elevate Miller. He called the president "delusional" and asked whether Trump wants to finish destroying the GOP.

In a follow-up post, Scaramucci noted that Trump's response to the message from the people was "let's go with little Himmler."

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich wrote on X that the defeat leaves the 2028 GOP nomination "wide open." He said a win could have made Vance the likely nominee.

Vance and Rubio are widely seen as potential Republican candidates to succeed Trump.
