Series Follows Melania's Return To The White House
Prime Video released a trailer for the series on Friday. The company said it offers "never-before-told stories," including her first days after the 47th Presidential Inauguration.
According to the announcement, the first episode, "Family & Trust," follows her priorities before returning to the White House. The second, "Pride & Honor," focuses on putting "her mission in motion," Prime Video said.
Amazon's $75 Million Documentary Opened to $7 Million
The series follows Amazon's "Melania" documentary, which covered the 20 days before President Donald Trump's inauguration. Melania Trump was an executive producer.
Amazon spent $75 million to acquire and market the film. The film opened at an estimated $7 million, beating forecasts of $2 million to $5 million.
Political Scrutiny Over Alleged Amazon-Trump Ties
After the film's release, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said they would investigate whether it was a "pay-to-play scheme." They cited Amazon's financial interests tied to the Trump administration, the Hill reported.
Amazon Executive Chair Jeff Bezos attended the inauguration and has had a closer relationship with the president in his second term. Bezos denied any role in the acquisition of the film, the report added.
"Amazon's a big company and makes a lot of decisions. But no, this idea that somehow that is a way of buying influence, it's just not. It's just not correct," Bezos said in May.
