Musk Warns of Democratic Power Grab
On Saturday, in a post on X, Cuban responded to Musk's concerns about what Democrats might do if they win the House, Senate and presidency in 2028.
Musk outlined three potential moves by Democrats: making Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico states to gain Senate seats, legalizing undocumented immigrants to secure a long-term voter majority and expanding the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority.
He warned that these measures could result in "America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word."
Musk argued that retaining at least 51 Republican Senate seats in 2028 was necessary to prevent such changes, urging voters to support Republican candidates in the 2026 midterm elections.
Cuban Says Independents Could Hurt Democrats
Cuban disagreed with the proposals, writing, "I'm against all of these."
He argued that independent voters were becoming increasingly influential because they weren't tied to either party.
"The fact [that] independents are NOT an organized party, means we can individually do what we think is right, without regard to party politics," Cuban wrote.
He also pointed to growing frustration with traditional party politics, warning that "pushing these would backfire on Democrats."
Democrats Face Political Pressure Ahead of Midterms
Last month, former Vice President Kamala Harris urged Democrats not to pursue another Trump impeachment, arguing it would drain resources better spent on oversight and investigations.
She said "the votes aren't there" and called for a focus on accountability, Medicaid and ending the war.
Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene warned Republicans of voter backlash over abandoning their "America First" promises, criticizing Trump over the Iran war, the Jeffrey Epstein controversy and rising living costs.
A Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos poll showed Trump's approval rating falling to 33%, with 66% disapproving.
The poll also found that 75% of voters rated the economy as not so good or poor, while 72% said the country was heading in the wrong direction.
