Cryptocurrency bettors are leaning toward Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), a close ally of President Donald Trump, in the Florida gubernatorial race.

GOP's Dominance to Continue?

Polygon (CRYPTO: POL)-based Polymarket currently priced in 77% odds on Donalds' victory, versus 24% for Democrat David Jolly.

If elected, Donalds would be Florida's first African American governor.

Republicans have won every gubernatorial election in Florida since 1998. Incumbent Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), whose term ends in January, won the last two elections in 2018 and 2022.

Jolly was a former Republican Representative from Florida. Last year, he joined the Democratic Party to run in the gubernatorial primary.

The election is scheduled for Nov. 3, while early voting is underway.

Trump Supports 'Close Friend'

Trump has given Donalds his "complete and total endorsement" and campaigned for him across Florida.

Last month, Trump dismissed reports that his name and endorsements were scrubbed from Donalds' campaign website, and went on to call the GOP nominee a "very close friend."

Donalds has been a Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) investor, with an active position worth between $50,000 to $100,000 in Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF (NYSE: BTC), as reported by the MarketDash Government Trades page.
