What's Inside the Q3 Report
On the bottom line, Cheesecake Factory reported quarterly adjusted earnings of $1.02 per share. That topped the Street estimate of 94 cents, according to market data.
Revenue came in at $1.03 billion, which beat the consensus estimate of $999.25 million.
"We delivered an exceptional third quarter, generating record quarterly revenue, with margins and earnings also exceeding our expectations," said CEO David Overton.
The flagship restaurants did the heavy lifting. "The Cheesecake Factory restaurants led our performance, with comparable sales and traffic meaningfully outperforming the broader casual dining industry," Overton added.
That last bit is the interesting part. Casual dining has been a tough neighborhood lately, so posting comparable sales and traffic gains that outpace the industry is a real flex. It suggests the chain is taking share, not just riding a rising tide.
CAKE Stock Price: According to market data, Cheesecake Factory stock was down 0.43% to $108 in Tuesday's extended trading. So the market liked the numbers enough to... nudge the stock slightly lower after hours. Extended trading is a fickle beast, and one session's wiggle doesn't rewrite the story. The report itself was a clear beat, with record revenue and margins that came in ahead of management's own expectations.
For now, the takeaway is simple: the cheesecake is selling, the traffic is holding up, and the company is outperforming its casual dining peers. Whether the stock follows the fundamentals is a question for Wednesday's regular session.
