BitMine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR) put out its Monday numbers, and the headline is hard to miss: the company now holds 6.05 million Ethereum (CRYPTO: $ETH) tokens, valued at approximately $14.3 billion.
As of Oct. 25, that stash amounted to 4.95% of Ethereum's total supply. In other words, BitMine is a rounding error away from its stated goal of owning 5% of all ETH tokens. Most companies dream of market share in their industry. BitMine is going after market share in a blockchain.
The balance sheet does not stop at ETH. BitMine reported $514 million in cash and marketable securities. It also holds 215 Bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC), plus investments in Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings (NASDAQ: ORBS).
Staking, Buybacks, And A Steady ETH Drip
A big chunk of that Ethereum is hard at work. BitMine has staked 5.23 million ETH, worth about $12.3 billion, and estimates annualized staking revenue of $318 million. That is the crypto equivalent of putting your savings to work instead of letting it sit in a checking account, except the checking account is a public blockchain.
Shareholders got some love too. BitMine repurchased 2.04 million shares last week. Total buybacks in 2026 have reached 22.9 million shares, worth $399.6 million. The company also picked up 10,452 ETH during the past week, because apparently 6.05 million was not quite enough.
Looking ahead, BitMine plans to expand its Ethereum staking operations through its MAVAN platform while it keeps chasing that 5% supply target.
Tom Lee Picks His Comparison
Chairman Tom Lee used the recent crypto weakness as an opportunity to make a point. He noted that Ethereum had fallen 13% from its recent peak, while U.S. semiconductor stocks dropped 20% over the same period. The smaller decline, in his view, supports his belief that a cryptocurrency bull market is underway.
"Crypto got pulled down by the same 'risk-off' forces behind the AI sell-off," he said.
It is a familiar Lee move: find the least bad number in a bad stretch and call it evidence. Whether you buy the argument or not, the comparison is at least a fair one to put on the table.
The Chart: Mixed Signals, One Clear Line In The Sand
BitMine stock fell Monday, underperforming a broader market that was in a good mood. The Nasdaq gained 0.59% and the S&P 500 rose 0.45%, while BMNR went the other way as investors stayed cautious on crypto-linked names.
The longer view is rougher. The stock has lost 60.14% over the past 12 months, which is a lot of selling pressure to absorb. Traders are now watching key technical levels for any sign of a recovery.
BitMine shares remain below key short-term moving averages. The stock is trading 10.9% below its 20-day simple moving average of $24.06 and 11.9% below its 50-day SMA of $24.33.
But the longer-term picture is not fully broken. Shares remain above the 100-day SMA of $20.30 and the 200-day SMA of $21.14, which suggests the longer-term trend has not completely weakened.
Momentum, though, is fading. The moving average convergence divergence (MACD) indicator remains below its signal line, and its negative histogram suggests buying pressure has weakened.
The moving averages themselves are a mixed bag. The 20-day SMA sits below the 50-day SMA, a sign of near-term weakness. But the 50-day SMA is still above the 200-day SMA following a golden cross in September, a pattern that suggests the longer-term trend remains relatively stronger.
Key resistance stands at $24.00, near the 20-day and 50-day moving averages. A move above that level could signal improving momentum and attract fresh buying interest.
On the downside, key support sits at $20.50, just above the 100-day moving average of $20.30. A break below could increase selling pressure and raise concerns about further declines.
