Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) took to the floor Thursday with a simple question about the war with Iran: what exactly did we get for it? Nearly eight months into the conflict that began under President Donald Trump, Warren said the answer is not obvious.

Warren: American Lives and Billions Spent
Warren said the war has killed as many as 23 U.S. service members and cost more than $45 billion. Pentagon casualty data publicly listed 21 deaths and 865 wounded in operations against Iran as of Oct. 10, a figure first reported by The New York Times.
Similarly, the Pentagon informed Congress last month that the war has cost $45.1 billion, of which $1.5 billion was for additional fuel, according to a CNN report.
“Nobody can seem to explain what this war has accomplished or when it will end,” Warren added.
A Political Drag as Prices Bite
Warren’s remarks arrived amid declining political support for Trump. A recent poll found 31% of Americans approved of his performance, the lowest approval level across his two presidential terms, amid rising prices and mounting economic pressures.
Gasoline jumped 9.1% in September, accounting for more than half of the monthly increase. Consumer prices rose 3.7% year over year in September.
Economist Peter Schiff warned the conflict could prompt the Federal Reserve to consider additional quantitative easing, which he argues would fuel more inflation.
Crypto Bettors Lean Toward Democrats
Meanwhile, Polygon (CRYPTO: POL)-based Polymarket priced in a 69% chance that Democrats take control of both the Senate and the House after the midterms, up from 63% a week ago.
The shifting odds suggest traders are increasingly connecting the war's costs and the inflation squeeze to the ballot box. Whether voters make that same connection remains the multibillion-dollar question.
