Cleo Fields Bets Big on Netflix
If one member of Congress is most hurt by the drop in Netflix's stock price, it's Rep. Cleo Fields (D-La.). The congressman has bought Netflix stock eight times since November, according to the MarketDash Government Trades page.
Here are the purchases and the price of Netflix stock on that day:
- Nov. 3, 2025: $100,000 to $250,000, $107.51 to $113.35
- Nov. 3, 2025: $100,000 to $250,000, $107.51 to $113.35
- Nov. 20, 2025: $100,000 to $250,000, $105.39 to $111.10
- Nov. 20, 2025: $100,000 to $250,000, $105.39 to $111.10
- Dec. 3, 2025: $1,000 to $15,000, $102.03 to $106.87
- Dec. 3, 2025: $1,000 to $15,000, $102.03 to $106.87
- Jan. 20, 2026: $50,000 to $100,000, $87.02 to $89.90
- Sept. 14, 2026: $1,000 to $15,000, $78.49 to $81.02
Assuming Fields spent the maximum amount each time and bought shares at the highest price, he would have 10,489.74 NFLX shares.
He would have spent a total of $1,145,000 on those Netflix shares.
Today, with shares valued at $65.17, the stake would be worth $683,619.61.
That's a loss of $461,380.39, or 2.65 times the annual congressional salary of $174,000.
Donalds Also Loses on Netflix Stock
Fields isn't the only one to be down on Netflix stock among members of Congress.
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), who is running for governor in Florida, bought the stock four times from March through August this year.
Donalds' purchases, totaling up to $60,000, came as shares traded between $73.57 and $91.88. At Wednesday's price of $65.03, those positions would be down 11.6% to 29.2%.
Fields' Trading History
Fields isn't only buying Netflix stock.
The congressman is one of Congress's biggest stock traders by dollar amount. He has made $22.8 million in trades since 2025, according to data from Quiver Quantitative.
Fields often buys Magnificent Seven stocks in large amounts and has shown a preference for big technology names in recent months.
