Western Digital Corporation (WDC) is higher on Monday. As you can see on the chart, the shares found support and rallied off the $415 level on Friday.

There is a chance the price continues to rise. This is why Western Digital is the Stock of the Day.

Why is WDC stock up today?

In the financial markets, certain price levels have more importance than others. These levels are called support and resistance levels.

At support levels, there is a large amount of demand or shares to be bought. If a market is in a downtrend, it’s because there aren’t enough buy orders to absorb all of the sell orders.

Sellers will be forced to undercut each other’s prices to get buyers interested. This can create a downtrend. These trends end or pause when they reach support levels.

At resistance levels, there is a large amount of supply or shares to be sold. If a market is in an uptrend, it’s because there aren’t enough shares for sale to fill all of the buy orders.

Buyers will be forced to outbid each other to attract sellers. This can create an uptrend. These trends end or pause when they reach resistance levels.

Sometimes, shares rally after reaching support.

This happens when some of the investors and traders who created the support with their buy orders become anxious and impatient. They are concerned that other buyers will be willing to pay higher prices than they are.

As a result, they increase bid prices. Other anxious buyers see this and do the same thing. This can result in a snowball effect that forces the price higher.

This is what happened the last couple of times Western Digital found support around $415. There is a good chance it happens again. The stock may continue to rally.
