Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has a message for the American people: wake up. In a 26-page open letter released Tuesday, the IRGC publicly appealed to U.S. citizens to change their government under President Donald Trump, calling on them to take back control from what it described as "corrupt politicians."
The timing, according to the letter, is no accident. The IRGC argued the opportunity is particularly strong because the U.S. political system is at "its weakest."
“God will come to the aid of the American people if they decide to change course,” the letter read.
Addressed to “the honorable people of the United States of America,” the letter accuses the Trump administration of misrepresenting the realities of the war, Iran's nuclear program and its grip over the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC also claimed victory, stating that the U.S. failed to achieve its war objectives, including curbing Iran's nuclear program, despite extensive U.S. and Israeli strikes that caused limited damage to nuclear-related facilities and air-defense sites.
The letter sought to distinguish the U.S. government from its citizens while highlighting similarities between the concerns of Americans and Iranians. It explained that Iran's "Death to America" slogan targets the U.S. political establishment, not the American people.
The IRGC also warned that continued U.S. actions could trigger global public anger, threatening American interests and assets worldwide and causing severe economic consequences for Americans.
“The U.S. economy will be hit by a massive economic earthquake that will affect the lives of all Americans,” they wrote.
