Hunter Biden is bullish on Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), and he's not shy about saying so. In an interview with BMTV on Monday, he predicted the world's largest cryptocurrency will hit $220,000 by 2028.
That's a bold call, but Biden has skin in the game. The son of former President Joe Biden said all his art is on the blockchain. He revealed earlier that he accepts Bitcoin as payment for his artwork and provides blockchain-based certificates of authenticity for his paintings.
He also made a broader case for the technology, noting that blockchains, including Bitcoin, facilitate cross-border transactions without a "mega monopolistic bank." That narrative, he suggested, could drive future adoption.
Biden Says Warren Is So Wrong About Crypto
Biden also took aim at criticism of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, particularly from Democrats such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).
"I love Elizabeth Warren. I really do. But I think she is so wrong about this," Hunter Biden said.
He acknowledged the issues within the cryptocurrency world, including "an enormous amount of grift," but slammed those who make blanket statements that Bitcoin is "going to zero."
Biden's Explanation on LAPTOP
Hunter Biden's comments come at a time when his own memecoin, the LAPTOP (LAPTOP), is attracting eyeballs. The memecoin, launched earlier this month, has collapsed more than 99% from its peak amid allegations of a pump-and-dump.
Hunter Biden called the launch "horrible," attributing it to liquidity problems that led to "artificial" price spikes in the first few minutes.
"But the one thing that I've been trying to let people know is that there will be a full accounting one way or another," he said. "I am still 100% committed to this token and all of the intention that I had when I launched it."
Price Action: As of this writing, BTC is down 0.50% in the last 24 hours to $82,977, according to market data.
