Accuray Inc. (NASDAQ:ARAY) stock jumped in Monday premarket trading after the company announced a collaboration with Samsung NeuroLogica to explore advanced volumetric imaging for its CyberKnife system.

Trading volume reached 152.824 million shares, well above the 100-day average of 1.195 million shares.

Accuray Targets Better CyberKnife Imaging

Accuray said Sunday it entered into agreements with Samsung HME America Inc., which does business as Samsung NeuroLogica.

The companies plan to combine Samsung NeuroLogica's mobile computed tomography and volumetric imaging expertise with Accuray's robotic radiosurgery, precision treatment delivery and motion-management technology.

The collaboration was announced alongside the American Society for Radiation Oncology annual meeting in Boston.

Accuray said customers have identified improved imaging as a priority because it could help clinicians better visualize patient anatomy during treatment.

Partnership Could Support Future Treatment Workflows

The companies will explore ways to bring more imaging information closer to treatment decisions. That could eventually support workflows that adapt radiation treatment to changes in a patient's anatomy.

Accuray CEO Steve La Neve said the partnership reflects the company's strategy of combining internal development with targeted collaborations.

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust will be the first center worldwide to participate in the collaboration.

No Commercial Product Announced Yet

Development will proceed in phases as Accuray and Samsung NeuroLogica assess technical, clinical, and commercial opportunities.

However, Accuray has not announced a commercial product tied to the partnership. Any future developments will remain subject to evaluation and applicable regulatory requirements.

Micro-cap stocks such as Accuray can experience sharp price swings because lower liquidity can amplify trading moves.

Expands Strategic Partnerships

The Samsung NeuroLogica deal follows another recent partnership. On Sept. 11, Accuray expanded its collaboration with RaySearch Laboratories AB to accelerate online adaptive radiation therapy across its platforms.

The agreement combines Accuray's radiation therapy systems with RaySearch's RayStation treatment-planning software and RayCare workflow technology.

Accuray also agreed to purchase $8 million of RayStation licenses, with the initial focus on the Radixact platform before expanding to CyberKnife.

Accuray's Latest Earnings

Accuray last reported fiscal fourth-quarter results on Aug. 19. The company posted a loss of 2 cents per share, which beat the Street estimate for a loss of 10 cents. Revenue of $100.9 million missed the $105.3 million estimate.

Quarterly revenue fell 21% year over year, while product revenue dropped 42%. However, service revenue rose 6% to $60.1 million. Adjusted EBITDA increased to $12.9 million from $9.4 million a year earlier.

Accuray ended the quarter with $41.2 million in cash, cash equivalents, and short-term restricted cash. Its order backlog stood at $312.5 million, down about 27% from a year earlier.

The company did not provide formal fiscal 2027 revenue or adjusted EBITDA guidance. Accuray cited uncertainty tied to geopolitics, trade policy, tariffs, and conditions in China and the Middle East. However, management expects continued service revenue growth and improved service margins.
