McDonald's Corp. (NYSE:MCD) shares slumped to four-year lows on Wednesday, with the stock down 5.4% to $234.88 and on pace for a seventh straight weekly loss.
This would mark the company's worst losing streak since July 2014.
The slide accelerated after McDonald's investor day unveiled an $8.5 billion franchisee support plan that spooked investors rather than reassuring them, adding to pressure on a stock already struggling with soft traffic trends.
The stock has now round-tripped from its 2026 highs near $320 back below levels last seen in 2021, marking one of the sharpest reversals for the Dow component in years.
Before today's investor day, several analysts trimmed their price targets on McDonald's within the past week. UBS cut to $320, Citigroup to $310 and Morgan Stanley to $308, signaling that turnaround expectations were already cooling.
Seaport Global instead initiated coverage at Neutral, indicating that meaningful improvement in results is unlikely before mid-2027.
