Meta Platforms Inc. (META) stock traded nearly 2% higher Wednesday as investors favored mega-cap growth stocks. The Nasdaq gained 0.70%, while the S&P 500 rose 0.29%.
Rosenblatt's bullish analyst call added to the positive momentum. The firm maintained its Buy rating on Meta and set an $886 price forecast Wednesday.
Citigroup analyst Ronald Josey also maintained a Buy rating and an $800 price forecast, calling Meta a "top pick" and flagging next week's Connect event as a near-term catalyst.
Meta also has fresh product catalysts. The company reportedly plans to launch camera-free smart glasses, code-named Luna, this fall. The Information reported that the glasses will use six microphones for Meta AI interactions, with shipments potentially starting in October.
Separately, Meta began rolling out parental supervision for Threads across Asia Pacific this week. The tools let parents set time limits, manage privacy settings and monitor teen usage through Family Center.
The stock is trading well above several key moving averages. It sits about 13% above its 20-day simple moving average of $602.15 and 9% above its 200-day SMA of $623.90.
However, its longer-term technical setup remains mixed. The 50-day SMA is still below the 200-day SMA after a death cross formed in December 2025.
The relative strength index stands at 73.64. An RSI above 70 typically signals overbought conditions. That could increase the chances of consolidation or profit-taking after the recent rally.
Resistance sits near $686, while support is around $556.50.
Meta remains down 12.66% over the past 12 months. Therefore, the recent advance still looks like a recovery from earlier weakness rather than an uninterrupted long-term uptrend.
Meta trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of about 25.2. The stock carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price forecast of $774.58.
Rosenblatt maintained a Buy rating Wednesday with an $886 price forecast. Wedbush maintained a Neutral rating Monday and raised its forecast to $650. JPMorgan upgraded Meta to Overweight on Sept. 10 and raised its price forecast to $820.
The stock scores strongest on growth and quality in the MarketDash Edge rankings.
Its growth score stands at 79.64, while quality is 72.4. Meta has a value score of 49.74 and a momentum score of 44.31.
The rankings point to stronger growth and quality characteristics, while momentum and value remain more moderate.
The First Trust Dow Jones Internet Index Fund (NYSE: FDN) has a 9.46% weighting in Meta. The Invesco AI and Next Gen Software ETF (NYSE: IGPT) has an 8.91% weighting, while the Global X Social Media ETF (NASDAQ: SOCL) has an 8.76% weighting.
Those sizable positions can increase Meta's exposure to fund inflows and outflows.
Meta Platforms shares were up 1.71% at $681.70 at the time of publication Wednesday, according to market data.
