Autodesk Inc. (ADSK) reported its fiscal second-quarter results after Thursday's closing bell, and while the numbers were solid, the company's outlook for the current quarter left investors wanting more.
Here's a quick rundown of the key figures.
The design software maker posted quarterly earnings of $3.30 per share, beating the analyst consensus of $3.12 by 5.77%. Revenue came in at $2.05 billion, also ahead of the Street's $2.01 billion estimate.
"We delivered strong second quarter results with consistent execution and momentum. Our sales reorganization is proceeding as expected," said CFO Janesh Moorjani. "We have increased our fiscal 27 billings and revenue growth guidance to reflect higher underlying growth expectations, as well as the incremental contribution from MaintainX."
But the forward guidance is where things got tricky. Autodesk expects third-quarter adjusted EPS of $3.04 to $3.09, below the $3.14 analysts were looking for. Revenue guidance of $2.13 billion to $2.14 billion, however, came in above the $2.08 billion estimate.
Investors focused on the EPS shortfall, sending shares down 4.83% to $257.20 in Thursday's extended trading session.
