SU Group Holdings Ltd. (NASDAQ:SUGP) announced Monday that its Macao subsidiary has locked in exclusive distribution rights for an AI-assisted robotic infrastructure inspection system. The stock, however, is sliding in premarket trading.
The deal grants Shine Union (Macao) Limited the sole right to market, distribute, and sell Green Light Multiplex Co. Limited's Inspec Spider throughout Macao. SU Group says this opens up a fresh revenue stream and beefs up its technology portfolio.
SU Group Expands Macao Operations
The Inspec Spider is a robotic system built to inspect and maintain high-mast lighting infrastructure. It can climb polygonal masts and poles up to 35 meters high. Equipped with multiple cameras, including 360-degree imaging, it documents rust and surface conditions. It also comes with AI-assisted analysis, automatic tilting and balancing, and both wired and wireless controls.
Traditional inspections often force workers to operate at dangerous heights, sometimes requiring road closures and disrupting operations. The Inspec Spider, by contrast, lets inspections happen from ground level, which could boost worker safety and inspection efficiency.
Technology Targets Infrastructure Markets
The tech could find use at airports, bridges, stadiums, highways, and tunnels. It's already undergone field testing at Hong Kong International Airport. The Inspec Spider has also snagged a Silver Edison Award and a Gold Medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva.
SU Group Chairman and CEO Dave Chan said the partnership strengthens the company's new Macao operation while supporting its broader geographic expansion strategy. Green Light Multiplex, established in 1991, provides lighting systems, intelligent controls, and smart-city technologies. SU Group itself offers security-related engineering, guarding, screening, and vocational training services in Hong Kong.
SUGP Stock Price Activity: SU Group Holdings shares were down 6.88% at $1.49 during premarket trading on Monday, according to market data.
