Infleqtion Inc. (INFQ) had a good Friday. The stock traded nearly 10% higher as investors waded back into riskier tech names. It wasn't just Infleqtion though. The whole market felt a bit more cheerful. The Nasdaq added 0.39%, the S&P 500 rose 0.46%, the Dow gained 0.66%, and the Russell 2000 climbed 0.61%.
But Infleqtion's move was something else. The broader technology sector only managed a 0.14% gain. Nine sectors were in the green, and the advance-decline ratio sat at 4.5, meaning advancers outnumbered decliners by a wide margin. Materials led the way with a 2.09% jump, and health care wasn't far behind at 1.47%.
Technical Check: Moving Averages and Momentum
This rally is a welcome change for Infleqtion, which has had a rough year. The stock is still down 11.55% over the past 12 months. But recently, shares have been reclaiming some key technical levels.
Right now, Infleqtion is trading well above its short- and medium-term moving averages. Shares are about 19.5% above the 20-day simple moving average of $11.52, 16.4% above the 50-day SMA of $11.82, and 8.1% above the 100-day SMA of $12.73. That's a pretty solid setup.
Momentum is also looking better. The MACD is above its signal line, and the histogram is positive. Both are signs that buying pressure is building in the near term.
But here's a wrinkle: the 20-day SMA is still below the 50-day SMA. That's a bearish crossover pattern, and it could become a hurdle if the rally starts to lose steam. Key resistance is around $14.50, with support at $13.
What Infleqtion Does
Infleqtion is in the quantum technology business. The company builds a full-stack platform that includes quantum sensing, quantum computing, and software. What Analysts Are Saying
Wall Street is pretty bullish on Infleqtion. The stock has a Buy consensus rating and an average price target of $20.67. That's a significant upside from current levels.
Wedbush maintained an Outperform rating on Aug. 3 with a $20 price target. Canaccord Genuity initiated coverage with a Buy rating and a $22 price target on July 2. And Wedbush had previously initiated coverage with an Outperform rating and a $20 price target back on June 26.
The ETF Factor
Infleqtion's moves can also be influenced by quantum-focused ETFs. The Corgi Quantum Computing 2x Daily ETF (XQTM) and the Corgi Quantum Computing ETF (CQTM) each have a 4.22% weighting in the stock. The Defiance Pure Quantum ETF (QTUP) has a 6.62% weighting.
That means if money flows into or out of these ETFs, it can create additional buying or selling pressure on Infleqtion shares. It's something to keep an eye on.
