Ouster Inc. (OUST) had a rough Wednesday, with shares sliding nearly 5% as tech stocks broadly took a hit. The Nasdaq managed a tiny gain of 0.06%, and the S&P 500 was up 0.37%, but the Technology sector as a whole fell about 0.5%. Ouster's drop was a bit more pronounced, but it's worth keeping some perspective: the stock is still up 37.66% over the past 12 months.

Ouster's 3D Vision for Robots
In more upbeat news, Ouster's subsidiary Stereolabs SAS and Trossen Robotics announced a partnership on Tuesday. They're integrating Stereolabs' stereo cameras into Trossen's Physical AI platforms, which are designed for robot learning.
The deal brings Stereolabs' ZED X Mini and ZED X Nano cameras to Trossen's Workbench and Rivet systems. These platforms combine dual robotic arms, NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin computing, and a factory-calibrated three-camera setup using Stereolabs hardware. A ZED X Mini captures the wider workspace, while wrist-mounted ZED X Nano cameras provide close-up views for precise manipulation.
The system generates synchronized visual and depth data, which is crucial for imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and simulation-to-real-world applications. It also supports ROS 2 and NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab, making it a versatile tool for robotics researchers and developers.
Technical Analysis: A Mixed Picture
Ouster's longer-term trend is still intact, even if the short-term looks a bit shaky. The stock is about 13.7% above its 100-day simple moving average of $36.13, and about 39.8% above its 200-day SMA of $29.39. That's a solid cushion.
But the short-term trend has weakened. Ouster is about 1.1% below its 20-day SMA of $41.53 and about 4% below its 50-day SMA of $42.81. The 20-day SMA is below the 50-day SMA, which typically signals near-term weakness. However, the 50-day SMA remains above the 200-day SMA, following a golden cross back in May. So the longer-term picture is still bullish.
The stock's relative strength index (RSI) stands at 47.65, which puts it in neutral territory. It's not overbought or oversold, so there's no extreme signal there.
Ouster hit a 52-week high in June, then pulled back to a swing low in July. Now, key resistance sits near $41.50, around the 20-day SMA, while support is near $39.
Analyst Outlook: Still Bullish
Despite the recent pullback, Wall Street remains optimistic. Ouster carries a Strong Buy consensus rating and an average price forecast of $53.25. That's about 30% above the current price.
Recent analyst actions include:
- Rosenblatt: Maintained Buy with a $53 price forecast on Aug. 7.
- Northland Capital Markets: Maintained Outperform and raised its price forecast to $60 on July 21.
- Oppenheimer: Maintained Outperform and raised its price forecast to $57 on July 15.
Momentum Score and ETF Exposure
Ouster has a MarketDash Edge Momentum score of 95.69, signaling strong longer-term price performance relative to the broader market. That high score contrasts with the recent pullback, so investors will be watching whether Ouster can hold support and reclaim its short-term moving averages.
Ouster is also held by several exchange-traded funds, which can influence the stock's price through inflows and outflows. Notable ETFs with Ouster exposure include:
- State Street SPDR S&P Kensho New Economies Composite ETF (KOMP): 1.08% weight
- iShares Micro-Cap ETF (IWC): 0.69% weight
- ProShares S&P Kensho Smart Factories ETF (MAKX): 9.84% weight
Large inflows or outflows from these ETFs can contribute to buying or selling pressure in Ouster shares.
Price Action
Ouster shares were down 4.47% at $41.07 at the time of publication on Wednesday, according to market data.
