Boeing Co. (BA) shares are getting a lift this morning, up nearly 2% in premarket trading as investors pile into large-cap industrial names. The broader market is a mixed bag, with S&P 500 futures ticking up 0.46% while Nasdaq futures dip 0.02%. But Boeing is catching a bid on its own news too.

First 737 MAX Lands in Tajikistan
Boeing and Somon Air, Tajikistan's national carrier, announced Monday that the airline has taken delivery of its first 737 MAX aircraft. This is the first 737 MAX to enter service in the country, marking a milestone for both Boeing and the Central Asian nation.
The 737-8 is the first of two aircraft leased from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE). Somon Air plans to use the plane on short- and medium-haul routes across Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia as part of its fleet modernization and network expansion.
This delivery follows Somon Air's commitment last year to purchase up to 14 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX aircraft. So, it's a relationship that's clearly deepening.
Earnings Snapshot: A Mixed Bag
The delivery comes just days after Boeing reported its second-quarter 2026 results. The company posted an adjusted loss of 76 cents per share, wider than the 30-cent loss analysts had expected. But revenue rose 8% year over year to $24.56 billion, beating the consensus estimate of $24.245 billion.
Boeing's total backlog hit a record $715 billion, including more than 6,200 commercial airplanes. The company also reaffirmed its 2026 guidance for operating cash flow of about $5 billion to $7 billion and free cash flow of about $1 billion to $3 billion.
What Wall Street Thinks
Analysts are broadly bullish on Boeing. The stock carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price target of $271.43. Recent analyst actions include:
- JP Morgan: Overweight, raised price target to $290 (July 29)
- RBC Capital: Outperform, lowered price target to $265 (July 29)
- Citigroup: Buy, raised price target to $260 (May 18)
So, the Street sees upside from current levels, even if the near-term earnings picture is a bit messy.
Technical Setup: Balanced, Not Bullish
In premarket trading, Boeing was at $219.95, sitting above all its major moving averages. The stock is 1.4% above its 20-day simple moving average of $217.07 and roughly 0.5% to 0.9% above its 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day moving averages, which are clustered near the $218-$219 range.
The relative strength index (RSI) is at 49.84, which is neutral territory. No overbought or oversold signals here.
Boeing formed a golden cross back in June, when the 50-day moving average crossed above the 200-day moving average. That's typically a bullish long-term signal. However, the 20-day moving average remains below the 50-day, suggesting near-term momentum hasn't fully caught up.
For traders, watch resistance near $232 and support around $214.
ETFs to Watch
Boeing is a heavyweight in several aerospace and defense ETFs, which means fund flows can move the stock. Here are the top funds holding BA:
- iShares US Aerospace & Defense ETF (ITA): 9.33% weight
- Invesco Aerospace & Defense ETF (PPA): 8.27% weight
- iShares Defense Industrials Active ETF (IDEF): 5.12% weight
Because BA carries such a heavy weight in these funds, any significant inflows or outflows for these ETFs will likely force automatic buying or selling of the stock. So, keep an eye on fund flows if you're trading Boeing.
Price Action
Boeing shares were up 1.76% at $219.95 during premarket trading on Monday, according to market data.
