China remains a key market to watch, Daryanani said, as Apple expands AI features through partners like Alibaba Group Holding Limited (BABA) and Baidu, Inc. (BIDU). He also raised a question that might be on many investors' minds: is the recent iPhone demand just purchases pulled forward ahead of expected price increases next year?

On the margin front, rising memory costs are a significant risk. Daryanani suggested that greater certainty around memory pricing through long-term supply agreements would boost investor confidence and ease concerns about future gross margin pressure.

Odyssey Capital's Jason Snipe echoed some of these concerns on CNBC ahead of the earnings report. He expected solid results, with iPhone revenue likely up about 20% and services revenue growing 14%. But he warned that rising memory costs and recent product price increases could squeeze margins. Snipe also pointed out that Apple shares had gained about 22% year to date and 15% over the past month, trading at roughly 36 times forward earnings. The big question, he said, is whether consumers will keep absorbing higher prices as Apple passes on some of its costs.

Craig Moffett, co-founder and senior analyst at MoffettNathanson, told CNBC that Apple's recent rally is more about shifting investor sentiment than a dramatic change in fundamentals. Investors are rotating into Apple as a defensive tech play while growing cautious about whether heavy AI spending by companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta Platforms, Inc. (META) will pay off.

Moffett described Apple as a "low-risk stock at a time of high volatility," a safe place to park capital amid uncertainty around AI-related spending. That sentiment is reflected in the stock's consensus Buy rating and average analyst price target of $327.81.

Recent analyst actions show a mixed bag:

The bullish golden cross formed in September 2025, when the 50-day crossed above the 200-day, remains in place.
