Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene didn't hold back on Saturday, taking Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to task on X over his response to the deaths of two U.S. service members in Jordan. She called the Iran war "senseless" and rejected his framing of the fallen troops as having made a "sacrifice."
The whole thing started when CENTCOM announced that two American troops were killed defending against Iranian strikes. Hegseth posted, "Godspeed, heroes. Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve."
Greene fired back, and she didn't mince words: "Sacrifice?? What the f*** are you talking about??" She said the troops "did not willingly sacrifice themselves" and were instead killed fighting a war waged "on behalf of a FOREIGN COUNTRY, Israel."
That post echoed something she'd said on Friday, when Greene claimed that "the foreign influence we are experiencing comes from Israel and their donors."
In a separate post, Greene struck a more somber tone, saying she was "praying for the families and friends of those two fallen soldiers and for the third missing soldier." She called on President Trump to "bring our troops home and stop this senseless America LAST war."
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also weighed in, writing on X that he was "heartbroken" over the deaths and praying for the families and all those missing and injured.
Earlier Saturday, Greene argued that "we are in no danger from Iran, they can't even hit us with a missile," and claimed the war "was started for Israel and is now all about the Strait of Hormuz and control of oil."
Greene resigned from Congress in January after a public split with President Trump over Epstein-related files, foreign policy, and healthcare disputes. Since then, she's been a vocal critic of the administration's handling of the Iran conflict.
According to CENTCOM, the deaths in Jordan bring the total U.S. military toll in the war to 16, with hundreds more troops injured since fighting began in February.
