President Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act has cost the clean energy, manufacturing, and industrial sector a whopping $82.8 billion through project cancellations and delays across the U.S., according to a new report.
The report, titled "Bait and Switch" and released Tuesday by the BlueGreen Alliance, a Minneapolis-based non-profit, says Trump's policies caused delays or cancellations of 223 manufacturing, clean energy, and industrial projects, along with 111,765 jobs. It also points to 3,034 manufacturing, clean energy, and industrial sites facing tax restrictions, putting $695.2 billion in capital investment and 1,184,996 jobs at risk.
The study blames Trump's rollback of policies from former President Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which aimed to improve infrastructure through EV charging points, zero-emission public transport, airports, and more.
Trump's Rollbacks
"At the heart of the GOP legislation is an aggressive rollback of clean energy tax credits and investments," the report said. It called the rollback of initiatives like the $7,500 EV credit, as well as solar and clean energy credits, "particularly damaging."
The non-profit also slammed the Trump administration's reversal of offshore wind energy projects, which had "the potential to create thousands of good new union jobs, gigawatts of affordable energy for the national grid, and economic revitalization for vulnerable communities." Notably, the Trump administration is facing lawsuits from states like California and New York over offshore wind energy leases.
The Ultium Cell project, a joint venture between General Motors Co. (GM) and South Korea's LG Energy Solution, was also rolled back, resulting in job losses amid a wider rollback of EV efforts. The report also highlighted the effects of rolling back the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
