Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) took aim at President Donald Trump on Sunday, July 12, 2026, using his billion-dollar cryptocurrency gains to argue that he's not fighting for the American people — despite his famous campaign slogan.
Warren shared a Yahoo Finance report showing that Trump personally earned about $1.4 billion from crypto in 2025, which is more than any publicly traded cryptocurrency company in the U.S. That includes Coinbase Global Inc. (COIN), which posted a net profit of $1.26 billion last year. Other big names like Strategy Inc. (MSTR) lost $4.2 billion, and MARA Holdings Inc. (MARA) lost $1.3 billion. So Trump, as an individual, outearned the entire publicly traded crypto sector.
“While tens of millions of Americans can't afford the basics, Trump's financial disclosures reveal he personally outearned every single publicly traded crypto firm in America last year,” Warren posted on X. “Tells us everything we need to know about who President Trump is fighting for – it's not you.”
The senator's criticism comes as many Americans struggle with rising costs. Warren has long been a vocal critic of Trump's crypto dealings and has pushed Congress to enact stricter regulations to prevent him from personally profiting from his position.
Trump's crypto fortune came from two main sources: over $520 million from the sale of tokens issued by World Liberty Financial, and more than $635 million in royalties from the Official Trump memecoin (TRUMP).
Trump has defended the earnings, saying there's nothing “illegal” or wrong about them. In comments reported on July 2, 2026, he said he takes no personal role in his investments and that “big institutions” manage and allocate the money on his behalf.
A White House spokesperson also pushed back, saying all actions by the Trump administration are taken in the “best interest of the American people” and rejecting any suggestions of a conflict of interest.
But Warren isn't buying it. She sees Trump's billion-dollar crypto haul as proof that his “Fight for you” slogan is hollow — and that the real fight is for his own wallet.
