Boeing Company (BA) just closed what it's calling its biggest landing gear deal ever, announced Wednesday at the Singapore Airshow. And when an aerospace giant says "biggest ever," that's worth paying attention to.

What's in the Deal
The agreement covers more than 75 Singapore Airlines Group aircraft spanning both the 737 MAX and 787 fleets. Boeing will provide flexible exchange and overhaul services specifically designed to extend gear life and reduce how long planes sit on the ground for maintenance.
Here's why that matters: Landing gear is one of those unglamorous but critical components that can ground an aircraft if you don't have a replacement ready. Boeing's Landing Gear Exchange program offers customized, on-demand access to serviceable landing gear through a managed inventory and partner network. Think of it as landing gear on tap.
For airlines, this setup cuts spare inventory requirements, shortens maintenance-related ground time, and helps maintain high dispatch reliability. In an industry where every hour an aircraft sits idle costs money, that's a meaningful value proposition.
The agreement also bolsters Boeing's aftermarket business, which includes parts supply, repair oversight, and logistics services all aimed at boosting fleet availability and minimizing operational disruptions.
William Ampofo, senior vice president of Parts & Distribution and Supply Chain at Boeing Global Services, explained the strategy: "By combining our global inventory and rapid distribution capabilities with the carrier's maintenance planning, this agreement helps deliver parts faster and closer to operations—reducing downtime and supporting consistent, reliable service."
Singapore Airlines Making Moves
This announcement comes as Singapore Airlines has been busy locking in maintenance partnerships. The carrier also recently signed a deal with RTX Corp's Collins Aerospace for its FlightSense maintenance program, covering the airline's 27 Boeing 777 fleet plus 5 new 777F freighter aircraft.
Dreamliner Updates
Boeing also shared this week that it expects to deliver updated 787-9 and 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft in the first half of this year. The improvements include enhanced takeoff weights that add over 400 miles of range or 5-6 tons of additional cargo capacity—giving airlines more flexibility in how they deploy these wide-body jets.
BA Price Action: Boeing shares were up 0.28% at $236.61 during premarket trading on Thursday.
