California Sees Opportunity Where Trump Sees Threat
Lauren Sanchez, who chairs the California Air Resources Board, told Bloomberg she's "excited to see what unfolds in Canada" following the deal. Her message was clear: President Donald Trump's administration is "going it alone" while the rest of the world embraces electrification.
Sanchez took aim at Trump's hostile stance toward electric vehicles, highlighting California's contrasting $200 million investment in EV infrastructure.
Newsom Touts 2.5 Million Milestone
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Newsom celebrated California hitting 2.5 million EV sales. He positioned the state as picking up the slack "while Washington now cedes the global clean vehicle market to China."
Trump Fires Back at Canada Deal
Trump wasn't having it. He blasted the Canada-China arrangement, claiming Canada was "systematically destroying itself" and calling it "one of the worst deals" ever. He's previously threatened to slap 100% tariffs on Canada.
