SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service has revamped its US residential offerings with a three-tiered pricing structure announced Wednesday. The service, developed by Elon Musk's commercial spaceflight company, is clearly betting that customers want options.

The New Price Menu
The entry-level plan delivers 100 Mbps speeds for $50 per month. Need more bandwidth? The 200 Mbps tier runs $80 monthly. At the top sits the Residential Max plan at $120 per month, which includes a Starlink Mini Travel kit for customers who want connectivity on the go.
It's worth noting that Starlink initially launched the 100 Mbps tier at $40 per month late last year, complete with unlimited data, free installation, and no caps on upload speeds. The new pricing marks a $10 monthly increase for that entry option.
Taking Flight
The pricing update arrives as Starlink gains altitude in the aviation market. Qatar Airways has equipped its fleet with the service, and United Airlines (UAL) now offers it on mainline flights. According to Michael Nicolls, SpaceX's VP of Starlink Engineering, the terminals add less than 0.5% to fuel consumption. Musk chimed in that there's room for improvement, claiming future iterations could achieve nearly zero fuel burn increase from the antenna drag.
